Taken from iheartphotograph.com, and picture taken by Erika Vogt 10/15/2010

This picture interested me immediately because it’s very reminiscent of some of the lecture halls I’ve has class in. Upon further investigation, I realized that it has undercurrents of a mutual distaste for learning in such lecture halls (or possibly formal education in general). The classroom feels very sterile, reinforced particularly by all white walls and ceilings, and uncomfortable benches. Additionally, the photo is taken from the back of the classroom, indicating distance between the professor and the student (and possibly a metaphor along the same lines). The symmetry in the classroom, and its vacancy as well, seem to work in effect with the previously mentioned issues. In summation, I believe the photo deals with some of the grievances of an uninspired education.
